Some of the greatest football players in history used to wear Real Madrid’s legendary white shirt through the years. In this article, we will present you Top 10 of Los Blancos’ greatest ever players.

Hugo Sanchez

Probably the greatest Mexican striker in history, Hugo Sanchez spent seven seasons at the Santiago Bernabeu between 1985 and 1992. During this time, he scored 208 goals in 283 games for the club – a marvelous achievement by any means. He won La Liga five times with the white shirt while also triumphed in the Copa del Rey and the UEFA Cup. The Mexican star remains one of the most impressive Real Madrid players so far.

Emilio Butragueño

Playing together with Hugo Sanchez, Emilio Butragueño spent 12 seasons at the Bernabeu. He was also a striker and finished his Real Madrid career with some decent stats – 171 goals in 460 matches. He was not as prolific as Sanchez, but he was essential for the team’s success. Nicknamed ‘The Vulture,’ Butragueño ended his Real Madrid career with six gold medals in La Liga.

Iker Casillas

Arguably the most outstanding goalkeeper in the history of Spanish football, Iker Casillas has won everything in his career – La Liga, the Champions League, the World Cup, and the European Cup. Called ‘San Iker’ by the fans, Casillas made his official debut for Real Madrid at the fragile age of 18. At 19-years old, he was already the first choice for Los Blancos, winning the Champions League as well. During his prime years, Casillas was a fantastic goalkeeper with almost superhuman abilities. He left the club in 2015 and spent the last years of his career at Porto.

Raul

Former captain of the club, we will remember Raul Gonzalez as one of the finest strikers in the history of Real Madrid. He debuted for the club in 1994 and remained loyal to the institution until 2010, when he left for Germany. Raul scored 323 goals for Los Blancos, making him one of the most prolific strikers the Bernabeu ever witnessed. He was not a physical beast, but he was brilliant in the penalty area and had some fantastic left foot. Even now he’s one of the most Real Madrid players by the fans.

Sergio Ramos

Filled with passion and love for winning, Sergio Ramos is one of Real Madrid’s greatest captains ever. A legendary performer at the centre-back position, Ramos knew how to score goals as well. The Andalusian finished his career with 101 goals for Madrid, scoring in two Champions League finals as well. Ramos was almost impenetrable in defense while also being terrifying in the aerial duels. The perfect defender.

A player who used to electrify the fans with his talent, Zidane was the definition of the most outstanding playmaker. He had an incredible vision for the game but also a tremendous passing ability.
